Meghan Miller

Director of Bands

Ms. Miller holds both her BA (2016) and M.Ed. (2018) in Music Education from Auburn University. While at Auburn, she studied clarinet under the direction of Dr. David Odom, performed with the Auburn University Symphonic Winds and the Auburn Community Orchestra as the principal clarinetist, and served as the clarinet section leader of the Auburn University Marching Band for two years. She also performed with the Alabama Intercollegiate Band in 2013 and 2015 under the direction of Colonel John R. Bourgeois and Dr. John R. Locke, respectively, at the Alabama Music Educators Association Conference.

While pursuing her Master's Degree, Ms. Miller served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Auburn University Bands. During this time, she studied conducting with Dr. Corey Spurlin and Dr. Rick Good and had the opportunity to work with numerous ensembles at the University.

Ms. Miller's professional affiliations include membership with the Alabama Music Educators Association, the National Bandmaster's Association, the National Association for Music Education, Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Service Sorority, Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Service Fraternity, and Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.

DeZayveon Dickerson

Associate Director of Bands

My name is DeZayveon Dickerson, and I currently serve as the Associate Director of Bands at Hillcrest High School this year. I graduated from Auburn University in the Spring of 2023 with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, achieving Summa Cum Laude honors.

During my time at Auburn, I embraced various leadership roles, including the trumpet section leader, Freshman Advisor, and Head Drum Major of the Auburn University Marching Band (AUMB). My primary instrument, the trumpet, has always been a source of passion and joy for me.

I was active in many musical ensembles at Auburn, such as the Auburn University Men’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and I had the distinct honor of serving as the student conductor of the Gospel Choir. I participated in the AU Concert Band, Campus Band, Symphonic Winds, Trumpet Ensemble, AUMB, and the AU Pep Band.

In my professional journey, I have gained valuable experience as the Director of Bands at Sanford Middle School and as the Assistant Director of Bands at Beauregard High School. I also have had the opportunity to be a staff member for the Auburn University Summer Leadership Camp and served as the Music Teacher and Camp Counselor for Camp Woodmont in Menlo, GA.

Throughout my life, I have had the privilege of living in four different states: Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Oklahoma, each of which has shaped my experiences and growth.

I am extremely excited to be here at Hillcrest High School. Go Pats!
